Open Water Diver

The Open Water Diver is the first scuba diving certification.

On completion of this globally-recognised course, you’ll be able to confidently explore the underwater world, to a depth of 18 meters, in similar conditions, with a Dive Buddy.

Key components

Knowledge development

You can do this online or independent study and always with an Instructor available to answer any of your questions as you progress through the theory. This gives you the basic principles of scuba diving. And yes, there is an exam. It’s multiple choice and you will have plenty of opportunity to check you understand the theory before sitting the exam. The exam can be completed after the dives.

Pool session(s)

To learn basic scuba skills and put some of your theory modules into practice.

Open Water training dives

Four ocean dives to use your new found skills and explore! Ahh bliss....

Course length

This course can be completed in three to five days.

If you don’t have enough time, the Scuba Diver Course may be better for you. You will be certified to dive to 12 meters after completing the first three sections of Knowledge Development, pool session(s) and two ocean training dives.

You can choose to upgrade your Scuba Diver certification to Open Water Diver at a later stage after completing the rest of that course.
